Support and Development
Academy learner: "Working in the MKC Employment Academy with real companies has given me hope that I can have a future that enables me to support myself and get a job when I get out."
The Academy develops key skills of learners, including
- Self-motivation and commitment
- Positive attitude
- Willingness to learn
- Ability to multi task
- Demostrate reading, writing and numberacy skills
The Academy highlights offenders who are keen to develop these skills whilst in custody and provides them with a network of support from custody through the gate. This involves education and skills development, as well as working on any personal barriers which may preclude them from the job market.
The Employment Academy works to assist in supporting offenders to access real work opportunities in prison and to re-enter the employment market upon their release.
