MK College sharing best practice at ESOL Hub event
Last week MK College hosted a sharing best practice at an ESOL hub event for all ESOL teachers across our three regions.
The ESOL Hub event comprised of looking at initial assessment and screening tools for ESOL and the changes in awarding bodies and the new ESOL qualification specification and sample assessments.
In addition, Gateway, the awarding body for ESOL, provided a short initial presentation and took away questions in preperation for another event being held in a few weeks.
All teachers then got involved in a sharing best practice activity. This was the highlight of the day as each teacher in attendance brought an innovative resource they used. They then presented the resource to the other teachers on their tables and the whole table had to vote for the best (most innovative). The winners from each table then presented their resource and how they used it to the whole room. Again there was another vote and the overall winner was decided. This person then got a selection of resources to take back to their site and a trophy.
The event was very well attended and received by those in attendance.
